I had a mixed experience at Gold Reef City Theme Park Hotel. While the theme park offers a fantastic range of attractions and the breakfast was a highlight, the service and room quality left quite a bit to be desired.

Rooms
6.0
Upon arrival, I was disappointed by the initial room offered, which was down a dark alley and didn't reflect the executive suite I had requested. Although the family suite I eventually received was spacious and had a great bathroom, I found several broken items that needed fixing.
Service
5.0
The staff were generally friendly and helpful, especially in addressing my concerns about room issues. However, the check-in process was frustrating, and I had to approach cleaning staff for additional amenities a few times.
Location
6.0
The hotel is set within the theme park, which is a plus, but the surrounding area felt quite dark and secluded in the evenings. The proximity to the Gold Reef Casino is convenient, though it can get noisy.
Dining
8.0
Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was a good experience, featuring a large selection of tasty foods, including an automatic pancake maker. However, I found the lack of variety in dinner options at nearby eateries disappointing.
Facilities
7.0
The facilities offered decent room services and amenities like a shuttle service to the nearby casino. It was nice having access to the theme park rides, included with the hotel stay.

5.8/10

I had a mixed experience at the Gold Reef City Theme Park Hotel. The location was unbeatable since it sits right in the theme park, making access to the rides super easy. However, the service left much to be desired, and my room felt a bit dated. Overall, it's a fun spot for families, but improvements are definitely needed.

Rooms
6.0
My room was decent but felt kind of old and bland. The bed was comfy, but the bathroom had some weird issues, like a light that wouldn't turn off and a wet floor upon check-in.
Service
5.0
Check-in was confusing and the service at Barney's restaurant was hit or miss. I encountered a security issue one morning, which was really concerning.
Location
8.0
The best part of this hotel is its prime location right inside the park. I loved not having to fuss with transportation to get to the rides.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was included and pretty alright, but dinner at Barney's was a letdown in terms of atmosphere and service. The options nearby were okay but not great.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel grounds were well-kept, and having a small pool was nice, but there weren't enough lounging options, and the corporate events made it feel crowded.

5.2/10

I had a mixed experience during my stay at Gold Reef City Theme Park Hotel. The hotel's location next to the theme park was fantastic for easy access to all the attractions, but I faced several issues with the check-in process and room cleanliness. The breakfast was a highlight, featuring a great buffet and friendly staff. but overall, the service left much to be desired.

Rooms
5.0
I was initially shown a back room down a dark alley that was far from the executive suite I requested. After some complaints, I moved to a family suite that was spacious but had broken items that staff quickly addressed. Overall, the room felt a bit dated but was comfortable and clean.
Service
5.0
Check-in took way too long, and I felt the staff needed better organization. Even small issues took multiple follow-ups to resolve, and communication felt off. despite some staff being genuinely helpful.
Location
6.0
The location is across a main road from the theme park, which is a big plus if you're looking to enjoy the rides. However, it felt quite secluded at night with limited nearby dining options.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast was enjoyable with a great buffet range, though I wished there was a wider variety for dietary restrictions. The automatic pancake maker was fun, and the staff were attentive, which made meals pleasant.
Facilities
6.0
Facilities like room service were available, but I did encounter some delays. The hotel overall has great amenities, especially the access to the theme park, which was a real bonus for us.

7.2/10

My stay at the Gold Reef City Theme Park Hotel was a mixed bag. While the theme park provided endless fun for my kids and the convenience of early access to rides was a significant perk, the hotel itself left much to be desired. Poor service, outdated rooms, and a disconcerting security issue really dampened the experience.

Rooms
5.0
The room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable king-size bed and decent amenities. However, I was disappointed by the outdated decor and some cleanliness issues upon arrival.
Service
5.0
The level of service was frustratingly disappointing. Check-in was chaotic, and even basic requests like swim towels were ignored. Dining experiences were also marred by slow service and poor food quality.
Location
6.0
The hotel’s location inside the theme park is convenient for families with young kids. However, the hotel can get quite noisy during the day, and it feels eerily quiet at night when most facilities close early.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was lovely with a decent selection. Yet, other dining options were lacking, with stale bread and tough sausages being particularly disappointing.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel offers basic facilities like room service, but the overall maintenance seems lacking. There were moments during my stay where I did not feel safe, which is concerning.

I had a great family break at Gold Reef City Theme Park Hotel. The comfortable room perfectly accommodated us, and the bonus of wristbands for park access even on checkout day was fantastic. However, having only one dining option on-site was a downside, especially with kids wanting to explore other activities like the arcade.

Rooms
10.0
The room was excellent with a king-size bed, air conditioning, and ample storage space. I felt very comfortable during my stay.
Service
10.0
The staff was extremely helpful and attentive, which made my experience much more enjoyable.
Location
10.0
Being inside the theme park was a definite plus, allowing easy access to all the rides. It was also convenient to have the casino next door for additional dining options.
Dining
7.0
The dining options were limited to only one restaurant on-site, which meant heading to the casino if we wanted anything different. and that got pricey with the kids wanting to indulge in the arcade and bowling.
Facilities
8.0
The hotel offered great facilities but could use more options for dining on-site.
